The Gauntlet Assassin

The Gauntlet Assassin - L.J. Sellers Pretty good story - Sci-Fi element was minor as this was a not-too-distant future, where the world was just a bit more on its downward spiral, with high unemployment and people struggling to get jobs with medical benefits. The characters are three-dimensional, Lara with her guilt preventing her to eat solid food, Paul with his obsessions and delusions, Camille the ruthless manipulator, and the Gauntlet tournament was well-written - the action sequences detailed enough to visualize, but not dragging. Some major plot parts were predictable and some could've been telegraphed earlier to avoid surprising the reader too much, but all-in-all the story is flowing well enough to keep the pages turning.
